ABOUT US
At the turn of the 1900s, the south side of Port Huron was buzzing with new industry and the promise of growth. In 1900, the Factory Land Company laid out the first plat of streets and homes, and by 1901 the neighborhood was officially named South Park. Unlike many communities of its time, it was designed to be more than just rows of houses or stretches of factories—it was a place where families could live close to where they worked, gather at shops, and build a true sense of belonging. Plat 1, the first and largest section, set the tone for a neighborhood that would carry on for generations.

Laid out with a long central park running east to west, surrounded by homes, the northern part of the neighborhood was set aside for shops and factories. Workers could buy lots—sometimes with houses already built—directly from the Factory Land Company on easy terms. Unlike many company towns, the Factory Land Company did not control residents or own the local businesses, aside from a few minor rules.

Now, more than a century later, South Park is experiencing a new wave of energy and renewal. What was once an industrial hub is transforming into a vibrant community again, where history is honored even as new traditions take root. At the center of this revitalization is Plat 1 Pub—a warm and welcoming spot for families, neighbors and visitors alike.

More than just a restaurant, Plat 1 Pub is a place to slow down, share stories, enjoy hearty food, and raise a glass with the people who matter most. Built on the legacy of the very first plat in South Park, it’s proud to carry the neighborhood’s history forward while creating space for new memories.
